The truth about snoring


While I was in the doctor’s office today completely bored out of my mind, I came across this one article which talked about snoring and some of it’s related issues.
Some of us know what it feels like to sleep next to someone who snores which means lot’s of restless nights. On the other hand we may be the horrible culprit keeping other’s up at night, but now we have something to blame for our loud intrusion.
Chronic snoring often is a sign of sleep apnea, a condition that causes the tissue in the throat to collapse, blocking your airways. Sleep apnea can cause loud snoring, but it can mean that you stop breathing for short periods, depriving the body of oxygen.
I am unfortunately a person that snores and had no idea that it can have some many issues behind it.
If left untreated, it raises the risk of serious health problems. Earlier in the year researchers from a university of nursing school found patients were more likely to develop cancer, possibly due to oxygen deprivation which may encourage tumor growths. Studies also found that untreated server sleep apnea when breathing is interrupted at elate 30 times an hour, which raises the risk of premature death. 

Now this is not the case for all people that snores, sometimes it’s just as easy as propping your head up a little higher with an extra pillow at night. If you are a snoring you may want to talk to your doctor about it to find out which treatment would be best for you.
